Lunch Info

Lunch is to be eaten in designated areas only. Lunch times vary by schedule. Students will be notified of their assigned lunch time once schedules are finalized and are available on Infinite Campus.  Byron High School is not an open campus for lunch. Students are not allowed to leave during their lunch period to purchase food and bring that food back into the building. Students can bring their own lunch from home, or eat the school lunch. Milk will be available for purchase to supplement lunches brought from home.

Effective January 5, 2026, Byron High School transitioned back onto the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).

WHAT IS THE CHANGE:  Under the NSLP, meals are designed to meet specific nutritional guidelines, ensuring students receive balanced and satisfying options. Students in the program will receive meals providing approximately 750-850 calories per day, along with weekly requirements for protein (8-12 oz) and whole grains (8-12 oz). Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to take all the fruit and vegetables they want, identical to the program models currently implemented at our Middle, Intermediate and Primary Schools.  Students are required to select three of the five offered items each day and one of the three items needs to be a 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetables.

WHY CHANGE TO THE NSLP: The district carefully monitored revenues and expenditures for the high school this year and has determined it is not financially sustainable to continue the current structure. The primary benefit will be that lunches and Grab & Go breakfast items will be provided free of charge to all students, allowing Byron Public Schools to be fully reimbursed by state and federal sources for the costs of one breakfast and one lunch for each high school student.

Extra entrees and a variety of ala carte items will be available for a cost. Click HERE for listing.

Please contact Debby Frank at debby.frank@byron.k12.mn.us with questions.

A monthly menu is posted and available to all students and parents in the District. To enhance the variety of choice, an a la carte food line is available to the 9th-12th grade students. Click HERE for lunch menu web page.
